About

Smokehouse

Canadian duo SMOKEHOUSE (Daniel MacKenzie, Peter Mol) were introduced through mutual friends in 2010 at a music festival at which they were both performing. It wasn’t until seven years later that their collaboration began after years exploring internationally as songwriters, producers, and touring instrumentalists. The first trip Mol took to California, where MacKenzie was living at the time, ended up serving as a reprieve for both of them, who had found themselves producing more for other artists than putting time into their own creative expressions. In a quick-cook pop-tart radio relevant songwriter’s industry, they carve their own path and take time to sculpt the songs exactly how they want them. Their ability to experiment musically without limits is due to the two separate studios in Edmonton & Nashville, that boast an impressive array of both vintage and modern recording equipment. Producing, engineering, and performing everything themselves, their unique process keeps everything in-house and gives them total creative control.
